New Chief Executive Officer

Hello AWCCU Financial members and community!

My name is Chris Inniss, and I’m pleased to be writing as AWCCU Financial’s new CEO. We’ve just wrapped up our strategic planning session for 2017 and I’m looking forward to positioning AWCCU Financial as the financial institution of choice for Durham Region and beyond.

I bring years of diverse financial services experience to AWCCU Financial, most recently as Vice President, Sales and Member Experience at Copperfin Credit Union. Prior to that, I worked at TD Bank and bring experience in Commercial Banking and Financial Planning. These experiences fostered an enthusiasm for supporting small businesses that make our communities stronger and pursing elevated financial health for our members.

While living in Thunder Bay, I was actively involved in several community based organizations. I served on the board of directors for the Thunder Bay Food Bank, the largest food bank in Thunder Bay, serving over 1600 individuals per month. We worked together to provide food items on an emergency basis to individuals and families in need. I was a mentor and advisor with the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission, an arm’s length community development corporation, responsible for local business development and entrepreneurial support. I also served as a board director for the Regional Food Distribution Association with the motto “Let no one go hungry in our midst.”

I have brought my passion for community building with me in my relocation to the Durham Region. I’ve moved with my family to Oshawa- we are putting down roots for the long-haul. I’m all in and committed to leading Durham’s largest locally-owned credit union, AWCCU Financial.

We are evolving our organization to one that focuses on a member centric strategy, ensuring that our members are put at the forefront of decision making. This will start with a focus on our internal culture, collaboration, and employee development. I fundamentally believe in the credit union values, working cooperatively to better serve our members, our surroundings, and empowering our community through financial literacy. At AWCCU Financial, we’re people helping people.

I want to hear from you. Send me an email at cinniss@awccu.com or reach my desk directly at 905-728-5875.

Looking forward,

Chris Inniss  /  CEO
